Russian Orthodox Icon of Saint Boris - $4,500 #120960
A naively painted rendition of Saint Boris with an impressed and pierced silver overlay.
Saint Boris painted in red robes is adorned with an applied gilded crown and halo.
The silver overlay is hallmarked 84 (Zolotnik) ie 875 silver and is dated 1843. No town mark is evident but the maker's mark 'FR' (Fedor Ruckert ?) is stamped in cyrillic script.

A naively painted rendition of Jesus Christ with an engraved and pierced silver overlay.
The silver overlay has a maker's mark 'AU', an assayer's mark 'H.A' 1857 and is hallmarked 84 (Zolotnik) ie 875 silver. It also has a Moscow town mark.

Russian Orthodox Icon of Jesus Christ - $6,500 #120962
A naively painted depiction of Jesus Christ with an impressed and pierced gilt silver overlay. Christ is adorned by a multi coloured enamelled cloissone halo which is separately stamped 84 (Zolotnik) ie 875 silver. The silver overlay has an assayer's mark 'AA' 1890 and is hallmarked 84 (Zolotnik). It has a marker's mark 'IE' in Cyrillic script and a town mark for Moscow.

Dimensions: 180mm (w) 225mm (h)

The portrait has been affected by heat and the hand has possibly been repainted. Otherwise it can be described as in fine condition.
Russian Orthodox Icon of Saint Alexander c. late 19th Century - $5,500 #120961
A masterly depiction of Saint Alexander painted on impressed gold leaf set on plaster (tempera) and applied to a wooden stave. Alexander stands amongst a river town scene that covers the bottom quarter of the icon.There is minor paint loss to the red robe of the saint and a small repair to the top right hand corner.

A skilled and well preserved portrait of Saint Nicholas with an impressed, engraved and pierced gilt silver overlay. St Nicholas is adorned by a silver halo which is separately hallmarked 84 (Zolotnik) ie 875 silver and a town mark for Moscow. A maker's mark 'PV' appears in cyrillic script. The silver overlay is similarly marked with no year date evident.

A superior example of religious iconography which comes with its handsome original outer box.
